Embora a maioria dos carros da Matchbox ainda possam ser comprados por um valor muito pequeno , uma miniatura Seagrave " Meanstick" fire engine confeccionada em ouro e pedras preciosas, está em um site de leilão com seu valoravaliado em mais de $50.000.  A peça única comemorando o 50º Aniversário da marca Matchbox. Ela foi confeccionada em ouro amarelo e branco de 18 quilates e adornada com 34 gemas, incluindo 24 rubis, quatro safiras douradas, e seis diamantes. O Matchbox "Ultimate Collectible" estará sendo leiloado na thebys.com e no Ebay.com, começando em 15 de agosto e irá beneficiar a  Ronald McDonald House Charities  (Casa de Caridades do Ronald McDonald (RMHC). Matchbox é uma das primeiras marcas de diecast," diz Everett Marshall III, uma das maiores coleções de carros da Matchbox no mundo. "Matchbox sempre foram excelentes representações de veículos reais. O Ultimate Collectible em particular é um modelo absolutamente deslumbram-te, fantasticamente construído." Sr. Marshall tem mais de 27.000 veículos em sua coleção, muitos deles estão em exposição em seu Matchbox Road Museum em Newfield, New Jersey, onde ele também é o prefeito. O leilão será encerrado as 5:00 da tarde durante a  2002 Matchbox International Toy Show, Sábado, 24 de Agosto na Chelsea Piers  em  New York City.  Os colecionadores de veículos da Matchbox que não venceram este leilão ainda poderão comprar uma réplica deste veículo raro, pois a Mattel oferecerá duas limitadas- edições : uma versão com uma decoração do50 ºaniversário e outra em especial cor dourada. Justo como seu par de ouro, estes veículos serão fabricados com muitos detalhes e uma escada móvel, e cada um levará o logotipo Comemorativo do 50º aniversário. Although most Matchbox cars can still be purchased for under a buck, a miniature Seagrave "Meanstick" fire engine, crafted in gold and precious gems, is on the auction block with an appraised value of more than $50,000. The one-of-a-kind piece commemorates the 50th Anniversary of the Matchbox brand. It is crafted in 18-carat white and yellow gold and accented with 34 gemstones, including 24 rubies, four golden sapphires, and six brilliant-cut diamonds. The Matchbox "Ultimate Collectible" will be auctioned off starting August 15 at Sothebys.com and eBay.com to benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). "Matchbox is one of the foremost brands of diecast," says Everett Marshall III, owner of one of the largest collections of Matchbox cars in the world. "Matchbox cars have always been excellent representations of real vehicles. The Ultimate Collectible in particular is an absolutely gorgeous model, fantastically built." Mr. Marshall has more than 27,000 vehicles in his collection, many of which are on display at his Matchbox Road Museum in Newfield, New Jersey, where he is also mayor. The auction will conclude at 5:00 PM during the 2002 Matchbox International Toy Show, Saturday, August 24th at Chelsea Piers in New York City. Matchbox vehicle collectors without the winning bid can still purchase a replica of this unique vehicle, as Mattel will be offering two limited-edition replicas: a burgundy version with 50th Anniversary decoration and a special golden-color version. Just like their gold counterpart, these vehicles will feature fine details and a moving ladder, and each will bear the 50th anniversary commemorative logo. The suggested retail price is $8 each.
